Intimacy problems when pregnant Kinda personal (re: husband)

Ask a Relationship Expert

So I think my DH and I are having intimacy problems during pregnancy Last 2 out of 3 times we tried to be frisky which isn't often now adays he stopped and made some excuse of why (uncomfortable too hot phone ringing at beginning distracted him too much etc ) We had only had this happen maybe 2X in our entire marriage before I got pregnant I am terrified after 9 years of marriage he is beginning to lose attraction to me Or is this just a pregnancy thing This is the first time I've even been pregnant and I am feeling ugly rejected and worried he is falling out of love with me Has anyone else had similar experiences Do men get weird during pregnancy What could be causing the problem

I've tried talking to him about it and he's not worried he's going to hurt the babies Mostly he makes up a bunch of excuses why for "that" time he did say he is having some thoughts of me being a 'mother' and not his wife/plaything which depresses me I don't want us to not be intimate the rest of our lives

I mean if it were becaue he isn't attracted right now because my breasts have gotten ginormous or the extra weight I'd almost feel better because those things will go away after this mental thing with us starting and him not being able to finish I know shouldn't bother me but I feel so worried I'm going to lose him and rejected

Expert Post Viewd: 1 Posted: 6/23/08 7:40 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask a Relationship Expert

I broke trust in our 6 year relationship when I lied about still texting a friend (which is a boy) after being asked He had already known the answer because he had been checking my phone records Last week I found a sytem set up in our basement that was recording all of our house phone calls He also checks all my emails and phone records constantly His excuse is that I have to build his trust back and he has every right to do this Is this right

Expert Post Viewd: 1 Posted: 6/13/08 1:57 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask a Relationship Expert

My husband is a fantastic father loves to play with out 7 month old and our older boys from my previos marriage The problem is when baby cries he takes it personally and thinks the baby just wants to be with me He says he is useless at changing his diaper and dressing him and that baby prefers me to do it we live in the US and we are English so I have had no family helping me here This means I do everything for the baby with no help and not much of a break at any point He plays with him when he wants playing with and there are plenty of cuddles and love but when baby is a little grumpy he comes straight back to Mummy I could count the diaper changes he has made on my two hands and I need him to understand that if he doesnt help in the day to day things with baby then of course is going to want me to do it I am the only adult he sees 24/7 Not to mention that he works away for weeks at a time now and so its just me and the children I have no social life what so ever and no family to call on when I get physically worn out I have tr to get this through to hiim but I fail what am I doing wrong

Expert Post Viewd: 1 Posted: 3/26/08 2:22 am Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask a Relationship Expert

Hi Angela

My husband and I have been married 3 years and for the past 2 have been trying to conceive We have had two back to back pregnancies that have both ended in miscarriage resulting in 3 D&Cs (1st D&C failed and very painful) After the 1st miscarriage we waited about 3 weeks to have sex again which ended up being very painful in my cervix (2 D&Cs in 3 days) We waited another 1 5 weeks and tried again Still very painful Eventually it stopped hurting and we went on to conceive our 2nd pregnancy The D&C for that miscarriage took place about 5 weeks ago We have started resuming sex again but I've noticed several things 1) my sex drive has lowered considerably It used to be me that was always talking my husband into sex since my drive was higher now he's lucky if he can get me in the mood It's not that I don't love him but that my sex drive is gone Several times I've "given in" to him because I'd turned him down several days in a row and it's not that I hate sex During sex I find myself waiting for him to finish and not really getting into it although still feigning arousal 2) I find myself saying "ouch" when it doesn't really hurt I feel like Im saying "ouch" almost in anticipation of pain but not actual pain Almost like I have cervical pain skittishness

My husband and I have discussed everything I've written here (our relationship is like that) and he says that perhaps the 2 miscarriages have turned me off to sex That I am relating all the pain Ive gone through from multiple surgeries down there to the act of sex in my mind I do miss my sex drive as it was a fiery part of my personality in our marriage Now Im starting to feel like a roommate to someone I love cos I never want it

Advice

Expert Post Viewd: 201 Posted: 1/31/08 6:39 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Am I Wrong

Ask a Relationship Expert

Ok after months of going through this I feel like I have to ask somebody that has a background in this type of thing Iam a 27 year old male with a wife of the same age and a son who is 19 months We have been together for ten years My wife is trying to get a book published and at the same time takes care of our son while I am at work When I get home from work I take over the little one along with the chores around the house (dishwashing cleaning etc) so she can focus on her work The problem is that even after the little one has gone down permanently for the night she will continue to work until I finally give up and go to sleep We have sex on average maybe twice a month if I'm lucky If I bring it to her attention that I am wanting her or needing her more often then I am being unreasonable and don't respect that she is working on her career If I sit back and don't bring it up then I am lucky if we are intimate once a month I have tried to calmly explain that I'm feeling a little neglected not only because of this but also for the fact that the only conversation that she will 100 participate in is about what she is doing I realize that she is busy but am I wrong for thinking that even if you are a writer and that is your occupation it's still a good idea to "come home" from your work once in a while

Now I have done a lot of research on the general average of sexual frequency between couples with children For the most part (realizing that is truly different from person to person) the national average seems to be in the neighborhood of about 1 2 times a week I would cut off my left arm at this point for 1 2 times a week I have expressed to her that yes men have needs but she will turn it back onto me that I am not respecting what she is doing I would never ask the question; are we normal because normal is a very relative term but at this point I'm doubting myself Am I being unreasonable I don't ask her to drop everything that she is doing when I come through the door I have supported her for ten years so she could persue her dream Never asked her to work while we struggled to pay bills and keep food on the table Because of that I feel I do respect what she is doing I am just asking for a little attention here and there

Should I just get over it Expressing my feelings to her just seems to make things worse So what do I do Give up

Expert Post Viewd: 292 Posted: 11/19/07 10:54 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask a Relationship Expert

here i go with my complaints of the day

i am happily married; we have one kid and one on the way

in the past 3 years we were very much involved in a group of friends some single some married etc (we are not anymore now )
there were 2 single women that i really came to care about because i felt they were really nice people and yet didnt understand why they were single i have invited one of the women call her woman A to my home on countless basis woman A is best friends with woman B woman B is very nice but although i felt compassion to her as a friend i dont think she saw me like that

these women has given us generous gifts in the past whenever we invite them to our occassions

incident 1:
woman B bought a house and invited us over and because we have never given her a gift before i thought we should give her painting; which we did; when she send an email msg to thank us she only send the email to my dh and forgot to include me in the email address but she mentioned me in the "hello bla and bla"

incident 2:
during the soccer world cup we got invited to a friends house to watch the game and also to welcome their new arrival we brought our dd with us i was holding our dd while dh watch the game in the living room; i came to the living room unannouced and found woman B sitting comfortably on the floor but inbetween my dh's legs immediately she saw me she jumped to the sofa as if she has seen a ghost i found it REALLY weird and uncomfortable

incident 3:
ok after the game everyone came to the backyard and we announced we were taking a family trip; woman B approached me and said she would like to join us on our family trip  which i found really weird because i wasnt best friends with her;

dh and i were discussing all of these incidents; he thought i should let go of incident 1 as he thinks woman B forgot

on incidents 2 and 3 he claimed he doesnt remember; i agree with him not remembering incidents 2 because when i came to the room he was very fixated on the game as his team was loosing on incidents 3 he found it to be weird

three weeks ago we met with some friends who are also part of the group; and the dw asked me if i have spoken to woman B lately; the funny thing is ever since my dh and i have known woman B i have never called her to chat; like i said she seems nice when we meet in the group but i always feel she never saw me as a friend if at all with all the incidents i described she looks like she was coming unto my dh

like take for instance last night i mentioned i almost told all of the above incidents of woman B to the rest of the group dh thought there was no need; he claims he doesnt feel comfortable for me to say stuff like this to everyone not that he is protecting woman B; the reason is he doesnt want his name to be part of a rumour even though he knows he is innocent and did nothing wrong

so my question is do you think dh never knew woman B was coming unto him like he claims or he gave hints and signs to woman B for her to come unto him as in he is equally guilty and he is lying

sorry the msg got long

thanks
abena

Expert Post Viewd: 263 Posted: 10/25/07 12:22 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

husband watching adult programs

Ask a Relationship Expert

My husband has addictive behavior Lately I catch him in the middle of the night watching adult programs on cable with nudity I will walk into the living room at midnight and ask him what he was just watching because he will frantically turn the channels There is no doubt what he is doing but he lies about it This behavior frustrates me more than normal because he professes to be Chrisitian man I am partly at fault for still sleeping in bed with our three year old daughter but if she is not there in the middle of us my husband would come to bed and wake me up at odd hours in the night for sex like 1 AM or 4 5AM He has since loss much affection towards me and it is like we are roommates at times He is impossible to talk to and manipulative with the counselor when we do go to counseling We were nearly divorced for his alcoholism 2 1/2 years ago that he no longer gets any sort of help for WHat am I to do

Expert Post Viewd: 216 Posted: 11/7/07 1:46 pm Posted by: Replies: 0
