Hi,
I recently began treating my daughter (who is high functioning on the Autistic Spectrum) with alternative/holistic practices. She just turned 8 (today!) and she has responded well to treatement. I am using vitamins (B6, Zinc, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin C, D and a good Multi). We have started B12 shots. We also went thru a round of anti yeast medicine and are currently following the DAN diet for autism. She also gets a dose of probiotics daily. She tested positive for sensitivities to wheat/dairy., My question to you is there anything else I can do to benefit her and also is it a true allergy she has to wheat/milk? |

Hi,
Happy Birthday to your daughter! My son just turned five on Sunday!
You are certainly heading in the right direction in terms of supporting her. I do see a number of food sensitives for her - in addition to wheat/dairy - so if you haven't already, I would suggest trying an elimination diet where you pull out certain foods for a week or two and then record what happens when you add them back into her diet - things like sugar (processed and natural - so fruits) and carbohydrates are the things that pop to mind.
In terms of your question regarding her wheat/dairy allergy - is it a 'true' allergy? Her body definitely has a sensitivity to these foods - it doesn't break them down well and they set off a chemical imbalance. Whether that's consider a 'true allergy' or not I don't know, but her body doesn't do well with them.
The probiotic is a must when I look at her system - in general her digestion looks sluggish so the probiotic will help address that.
You might consider doing foot reflexology with her if she is comfortable with you touching her feet. It's a simple process of gently massaging the souls of the feet with your thumb - working out areas that feel tight, mushy or crunchy (when the body is out of balance areas of the feet will feel like they have crystals in them). You can use a plain carrier oil. If she is open to this, F.R. will help improve her digest and keep the Qi lines flowing in her body.
Also Flower Essence Society has a new line of Flower Essences called Range of Light. There is one called Lewisia that you can consider using with your daughter. It's properties support autistic child.... Read More |
