Having trouble! more less Question I have a son born 6 weeks premature in NICU for 13 days   Came home healthy eating and voiding normally   At 6 weeks went to daycare (that I picked out school friend that I trusted)   He had an inter ear infection at this same time and was put on an antibiotic   Every since that day my son has only voided on his own 3 times   Each time was a diaper blowout Our pediatrician has no concern because he is gaining weight and growing   In fact will not even return our phone calls thinking we are first time parents   She has us using a thermomiter inserted in his rectum to stimulate his sphinster muscle to let him void His father has now quit work to totally care for our son because he cries all the time if he is not upright   This last week he has started only eating 4 5 ounces and then throwing his head and hands back and screaming in pain   The home health care nurse that came yesterday to give him his last shot said that this is not normal and made an appointment with a new pediatrician for Monday My mom watches him every Wed and is very concerned with what is wrong   We have an appointment with a pediatrician GI specialest on April 30th but are out of awnsers   Can you help us

Switching Formula more less Question I want to know what is the best way to switch formula My two month old son is on a soy based formula that is supposed to help with his fussiness and gas but that does not help him at all  As a matter of fact not only is he fussy he has gas and is constipated When I breastfeed him only he does not have any constipation or gas  I must mention that the doctor did not chose the formula he was to be fed the nurse simply asked me which formula would I like to place him on and I chose the Isomil formula simply because both sides of the family ( my husband and mine) have difficulty with lactose in milk I called his doctor's nurse and asked for medical advice and she suggested I give him another formula for one to two weeks on a trial basis I gave him the Similac milk based formula thinking that maybe he maybe able to tolerate the lactose in the milk but after feeding him he immediately had stomach cramps and fussy for about an hour or so I wanted to try giving him the sensitive formula but I want to be sure trying formula just like that is safe

refusing solids more less Question My baby is 7 months old Our doctor wanted us to wait until we got some constipation issues under control before starting solids (Those are still happening we gave up on that) We waited until 6 months to begin solids Now she refuses to take the food We literally have to shove the spoon in her mouth She does not voulntarily open her mouth If we distract her and make her laugh we can quickly stick the spoon in At the most she will have a spoonful 2 if we are lucky I know she is suppose to be eating the whole container We are still on 1 foods and I do not think she is ready for 2 and I for sure do not think she can try any puffs and such at this point What do you suggest

How much formula should my baby be eating and how often? more less Question My baby is 14 weeks old   She was born 3 1/2 weeks early and only weighed 4 pound 4 ounces   At her 2 month appointmetn she weighed 8 pounds   At the two month appointment she was eating 4 ounces every 3 4 hours waking up once at night to eat   Now she is up to 5 5 ounces every 3 4 hours (usually closer to 4 she'll eat it all then but will leave some if fed sooner)   She has been sleeping 7 9 hours at night and eat usually 5 bottles a day   I don't knwo what she weighs now but is definitely bigger than she was 6 weeks ago   My question is:  Every time I increase her formula intake per feeding she obliges and completes the whole bottle   I am thinking of going up to 6 ounces but I have a friend whose baby (4 months 13 pounds at 2 month appointment) only eats 4 ounces every three hours around the clock (7 8 times per day)   She hasn't increased his formula intake since he was 2 months old   I am nervous that i might feed my daughter too much per feeding or not often enough   98 of the time she always eats what I give her  Hardly spits up; maybe once in a blue moon a wee bit comes up with a burp   She burps once at the end of a feeding and finishes her feedings in less than 10 minutes   Everything I read online is conflicting   Some suggest increasing the food until the child does nto finish a bottle within 30 minutes but I also read not to give more than 32 ounces per day; therefore I don't know if it is safe to keep giving her more   What do you think

breastmilk fat content more less Question I actually have two questions several friends and I have been discussing breast milk fat contents   I have very little fat in my milk while one friend's milk is almost all fat   This friend has had her galbladder out and we were curious if that could have an effect on her milk   Additionally I saw a report on a study done about the fat content in milk and the report said that studies are showing that the fat content can be largely bad fats which is a possible connection to why doctors are finding more children with heart disease in its beginning stages   If the breastmilk is full of bad fats because the parents are eating fast food and other poor food choices while lactating and then the child grows up to eat a similar diet from an early age heart disease and diabetes are being found more often   Do you have any information that can confirm this or debunk it
