I need your help more less Question Hello I am a mother of 4 kids ranging from 12 yrs to my youngest who is 5 months   As I consider myself quite experienced in the development of children I usually don't wonder about the stages of babies however with my youngest I am a bit stumped First being all my children started growing teeth pretty late somewhere around 6 7 month my 5 month old started growing his at 3 mths he has his first bottom tooth and then about a month later his next bottom tooth started emerging which is normal if it comes out this early   I just noticed yesterday that his top tooth is coming out but it is not the top front teeth the tooth that is coming out is the tooth to the side of his front teeth   Is this normal for teeth to be growing out of the normal growth pattern Second question with my other children they were advanced in their motor skills meaning that they were crawling and walking very early   They started crawling around 4 months and walking around 7 months   Now with the youngest he is 5 months and hasn't even rolled over on his own yet My youngest has been very different from all the rest of my children starting from pregnancy I was diagnosed with gest diabetes and put on insulin   All my children were born with super black hair and eyes and he was born with dirty blondish/brown hair and hazel eyes all the others weighed under 7 5 lbs and he came in at a whopping 8 9 lbs   The were all breastfed and he is on formula   Even his disposition is so different from the others Is he different from the rest because of the diabetes   I look forward to reading your response

How Much Formula is Too Much? more less Question My baby is 15 weeks old   She was born 3 1/2 weeks early and only weighed 4 pound 4 ounces   At her 2 month appointment she weighed 8 pounds   At the two month appointment she was eating 4 ounces every 3 4 hours waking up once at night to eat   Now she is up to 6 ounces every 3 4 hours (usually closer to 4 she'll eat it all then but will leave some if fed sooner)   She has been sleeping 7 9 hours at night and eat usually 5 bottles a day   I don't know what she weighs now but is definitely bigger than she was 6 weeks ago   I am guessing 11 pounds because I held her after I weighed myself and i weighed 11 pound more   My question is:  Every time I increase her formula intake per feeding she obliges and completes the whole bottle but I have a friend whose baby (4 months 13 pounds at 2 month appointment; 14 5 pounds at the 4 month appointment) only eats 4 ounces every three hours around the clock (7 8 times per day)   She hasn't increased his formula intake since he was 2 months old   I am nervous that i might feed my daughter too much per feeding or not often enough   98 of the time she always eats what I give her  Hardly spits up; maybe once in a blue moon a wee bit comes up with a burp   She burps once at the end of a feeding and finishes her feedings in less than 10 minutes   Everything I read online is conflicting   Some suggest increasing the food until the child does not finish a bottle within 30 minutes but I also read not to give more than 32 ounces per day; therefore I don't know if it is safe to keep giving her more   What do you think

Flu Vaccine more less Question My 11 month old had a flu shot on October 18 his first Within 2 days he was out of sorts I took him to the doctor on the 22nd and they said " I don't know he may be coming down with a cold " ( Not seeing that doctor anymore) So here we are now the 27th we take him in again and heis diagnosed with very red swollen infected ear ( 5th one) laryngitis ( history of laryngomalaycia) and a virus Naturally as parents we were skiddish to get him his second vaccine and have not I and my oldest have just gotten over the stomach bug the past two days Have had for almost a week in our house The 11 month old is on an antibiotic for yet another ear infection and a severe cold that he has had for 2 weeks now Last night he threw up a couple of times as the way the stomach bug started with us He seems okay today so far What are the chances he is protected from more serious side effects of the flu without that second vaccine this year Should we schedule it I am hoping it was just the phlegm from the cold   Thank You for your time Sincerely Terri Baciuska mx20seven 0 210 12/12/07

2 year old started stuttering more less Question My son is 2yrs 4months   The last 2 weeks I've noticed a very progressive increase in stuttering   It's getting to where it's very noticable to other people not just the typical two year old stuttering   He typically stutters on the first word of a sentence   He will stutter over the first syllable 3 12 times before the word actually gets out   This happens whenever he tells me anything whether he is excited or not   It's typically the word he uses to address someone before telling them something such as Momma Dadda Nana etc   He has always been very verbal   He speaks in long sentences and has a very large vocabulary   I've read that this can be a normal phase but I was wondering what to look for or what makes it a problem that he should see a specialist for   I already asked your child development expert and she said to ask you Thanks for any help

Baby Brain Growth more less Question My granddaughter was born not breathing and spent 17 days in NICU 8 on ventilator and various drugs one being phenobarbitol which she is being weined off now   My daughter believes in only organic foods and lifestyle and went through natural labor she wanted no drugs administered for herself or baby   Recently a month maybe she was told the baby's brain was not growing quickly and you can notice difference especially where she is four months old now   She is getting Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments and seems to be responding waking four times a night for feeding vs once or twice   They told my daughter they think her brain is 'waking up' which is a good sign   I am curious if this is a procedure recommended by doctors I happen to be at my summer place across the street from the original Ocean Hyperbaric Oxygen facility and I investigated and it all sounds great   I would like your opinion on this and also will it help her brain to grow more normally   She is cooing and laughing using her arms more and is basically a great baby   Please advise Thankyou

Constipation more less Question Hello My daughter  just turned two About when she was 18 months she became very constipated and would go days without a bowl movement She would also have these "episodes " where she would be strainig to hold in her bowl movements She was in extreme discomfot I took her to my pedicatician and after trying all the natural stool softeners the doctor told me to put her on MiraLax He said she could stay on this for several months and it may take that to correct the problem He said she needs to have several bowl movements that are not painful then she will stop trying to hold them in Well it has been 6 months now and she still is on the MiraLax She has about 2 3 soft bowl movemetns a day I try to decrease the MiraLax but when I do she starts to have the "episodes"  again  and her bowl movemens become small and thick I forgot to ask my pediatrician about this at her 2 year check up Thanks Samantha
