Eczema more less Question My daughter is 3 months old and has been diagnosed with eczema She has pretty bad flareups on either side of her cheeks where it seems she either has too much contact with her clothes or is wet from drool or milk leaking while nursing She was prescribed some steroid based cream (mometasone) to use sparingly on these flare ups and told to use aquaphor on the rest of her body She is extremely dry all over and gets various rashes on her neck underarms and other creases Can you suggest anything to add to this course of treatment and maybe some natural way of treating flare ups rather than steriod based medication Thank you

Creamy Tongue more less Question My son is two months old and has creamy white patches on his tongue He is breastfeeding and drinking soy formula I wonder if the formula or breasfeeding could be part or the reason his tongue is that way   I and family are concerned  that if we leave his tongue that way he may end up having thrush or something else wrong with his mouth I have had suggestions from family and friends that I need to give him water or try to wipe his tongue with one of his baby wash cloths I've tried giving him water and that dosen't help and using the wash cloth only upsets and gags him I don't want to hurt him or upset him unnecessarily Is there anything else I can do to clean his tongue

Vicodin withdrawals in Grandson? more less Question Hello   I am concerned with the fussiness of my Grandson who will be 8 weeks old tomorrow   My daughter in law was taking vicodin durning her pregnancy for headaches   Is it at all possible that the baby is having some sort of withdrawal symptoms   He is not a happy baby and sometimes SCREAMS for absolutely no reason he's fed diaper is dry and he's held   Also at my suggestion he was put on soy formula for he was spitting up an awful lot and extremely gassy   It's helped somewhat but now he's constipated   One time my son said it looked just like rabbit poop then yesterday he said he had a big ball of poop and he didn't even understand how that size came out of the baby   My daughter in law thinks it's fine she doesn't have to wipe him after a bowel movement   Is there anything that can be done   I feel so sorry for him   Your answers will greatly be appreciated   Thank you so much

Spitting up and REFLUX in 3 week old more less Question My son is 26 days old   At about 2 weeks old he started spitting up more than usual and now is spitting up quite a bit   Our first son had reflux so we know the difference between normal spit up and reflux   He is showing signs of reflux such as crying when he burps stuff up and pulling away from the breast and crying as if he is in pain   Thankfully he is eating well despite all this and having plenty of dirty and wet diapers   Something that confuses me though is that he will spit up a decent amount of curdled milk 2 1/2 hours after nursing   Shouldn't his stomach be emptied by then   Also he nurses exclusively every 2 1/2 3 hours and every 4 hours or so at night   My oldest son was on liguid zantac starting around 2 months of age   I'm not sure it helped much   Should I make an appointment with the doctor to see if he should be started on it   Thanks for any info you can provide

Red cheeks & blotches more less Question My 8 5 mth old baby has very red cheeks   Is this teething or a reaction to dry heat or food   Separately we began solids a month ago (though breastfeeding continues to be his primary source of food) and I've noticed red blotches on his skin   We have only given him rice cereal and vegetables but the red blotches seem to appear at odd times   Not sure whether I could postivitely say that the food is causing the reaction   What is it and what should I be doing   Many thanks

Weight Gain more less Question Hi   My baby was born 2 weeks prior to the due date naturally and non medicated    He weighed a mere 5lbs   At 6 mths he weighed 16lbs thanks to 100 breastmilk   However since Nov he became sick twice and lost and gained weight   Now at 8 mths he is 16 lbs the same weight he was when he was 6 mths   We started solids at 7 mths though his primary nutrition is coming from nursing so I'm surprised he didn't surpass the 16lbs   Is there any cause for concern

Soy Formula / Milk more less Question Since birth my 11 month old has been fussy & gassy especially at night He's a spit up baby and has mild eczema He came down with a stomach bug a couple of weeks ago and 5 days ago we started him on soy formula & soy milk since he still has some diarrhea & thought it might be easier to digest Quite fortuitously his other symptoms have diminished or disappeared and we have (for the first time in 11 months) had two nights in a row with no screaming or waking When reading the symptoms of milk allergies or lactose intolerance he does not really fit the profile We tried lactose free formula around 7 months but there was no change Are there any other conditions that do better on soymilk His 1 yr check up is coming up so any suggestions that I could discuss with his doctor would be appreciated Thanks Angela
