Advanced with Iron) he's been having a bad rashs First it started on his face (our pediatrician said it was ezcema) then after about 1 week when his face cleared up from using off the counter cortizone cream (per pediatricians direction) he started breaking out on his body This went on for over 6 weeks and each time the Dr would just say it was ezcema About 2 weeks ago he started having more frequent and runny bowl movements (6 7 times a day) with quite a bit of mucous I took him back to the pediatrician and he said he was most likely allergic to the protien in the formula and needed to switch what he was on So he recommended Similac Alimentum Hypoallergenic formula Nicolas has been on this for a little over a week now his skin has completly healed from head to toe and he just seems so much more content Much less spit ups and less burping However it's still taking him time ot get used to the taste as he had been on the other formula for quite some time it's clear he was having an allergic reaction to the formula from the very begining but what exactly is he allergic to dairy Do you think I could try putting him on soy formula The pediatrician told me that most probably he will not do well with Soy since it has same complexed protein as the first formula and that I should just keep him on the alimentum What are your thoughts Not all the stores in my area Question My son is almost 19 months old and still eats baby food He throws up every day sometimes several times a day even though he is not sick He had GERD when he was little but it seemed to resolve itself by 5 months Table foods he can eat without a problem are cherrios bluberries bananas and such but he will gag and throw up even if his baby cereal is to thick He will even throw up stage 3 baby food sometimes He likes food just seems to have problems with chewing If I give him a tiny peice of steamed carrot it can take him up to 45 minutes to chew it up Needless to say he get very frustrated advice At my sons last dentist appt the dentist said he wanted to run a drill between my 3 year old 4 bottom front teeth to open up more of a space for the tooth brush because he said there was a bit of decay between two of the teeth He said it was a quick procedure but it would require clamping his mouth open and having a parent physcially restrain him while it's being done My son has been through alot in the last year following a seizure having a EEG  and needing to be put under to have a broken tooth removed I really have a hard time holding my child down for something that is freaking him out unless it is absolutley neccessary These teeeth are going to fall out anyways in a few years do you think they will really decay so much that they will start to cause him pain He does brush his teeth twice everyday with my help and since his appt we are trying to take extra care and trying to floss as well I just don't know if this is something really neccessary for baby teeth or in his first year of life   He is the type that doesn't catch a cold but rather gets really sick   In his first year of life he has had 2 respiratory infections 2 bouts of croup (within five weeks) 2 ear infections and 2 unusual episodes of high fevers (e g 104 7)    All of the illnesses occurred suddenly (e g he was 100 all day and then suddenly starts coughing   Few hours later we are running to the ER for breathing issues)   I'm completely puzzled by why he gets so sick given the following: 1) he had a fast non medicated birth 2) breastfeed on demand 3) co sleep and keep him close to us 4) feed him organic food 5) take him for fresh air every day and 6) play with a few babies   We have also massaged and bathed him every night since birth   He shows no visible signs of allergies and I have been slow to introduce anything considered a highly allergic type of food (e g dairy)   I have also taken a very slow and delayed approach to vaccines   Although we don't force sleep we try to encourage it via a routine   Most of the time he will only sleep 12 hrs in a 24 hour period   He rarely sleeps beyond 12 hrs even when he is sick   Can you give me any insight as to why my son gets sooooo sick     Is there anything that I am doing that could possibly compromise his immune system   Could it be sleep since every study I have read says that babies should sleep 15 hrs per day (my 1
