Ask Mr Dad

My husband is a very impatient person and he seems to be getting worse now that we have a 6 month old EVERYTHING makes him mad when she wiggles while he tries to change her when she won't be still while he is holding her if she wakes up when he puts her down if she keeps dropping her pacifier (he throws it across the room ) and if she won't stop crying etc etc etc I am afraid to leave her with him because I don't want him to freak out or get mad I am noticing that I do things differently now to avoid the possibility of him getting mad For instance he will ask if I want him to hold her or get her dressed and I say no I'll do it just to avoid him getting mad I am a nervous wreck and can't relax or enjoy myself if I have to leave her with him for a couple of hours I don't know what to do or how he can fix it I just don't understand why he can't just relax a little and understand that she is a baby and this is what they do

Expert Post Viewd: 2 Posted: 4/7/09 2:08 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask Mr Dad

I am a widow with 2 kids at home A 13 year old girl and a 15 year old boy My son has a my space page in which he has been talking to a girl that lives in Georgia I don't mind his chatting but lately he has gone into a fantasy world of him getting a job to pay for an airplane ticket for this girl to come and see him I have tried to explain how impossible this is and that if I were that girls parents that I wouldn't let her come out here to visit with strangers I don't want to make him feel bad or crush his spirit but I can't seem to find the right way to get through to him He has always been very sensitive and somewhat emotional If his Dad was alive I'm sure he would know what to say but I just can't seem to get it right Any ideas

Expert Post Viewd: 1 Posted: 1/27/09 10:23 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask Mr Dad

Myboyfriend and I have been together just about 4 years He has been wanting a child with me ever since we met From different relationships we both have a child Well we recently found out that I was pregnant which was completely planned Well he ended up leaving yesterday to go stay at his mothers house He says he need to vent

I recently had to leave my job and he is the bread winner We havebeen argueing almost nonstop for about two weeks He keeps saying I am talking to him wrong but i really dont see how I am When ever he gets mad he yells and screams and he acts like he doesnt care about me Then the other night he was here at our house dring with his twin brother and his buddy I didnt mind it his brother was very hyper for some reason for 2 hours he kept pulling me pushing me poking me flicking me talk very loudly in my ear it was all in fun I understood that Well several times I asked his brother to stop I even asked my boyfriend to get his brother to stop it didnt and finally I lashed out I yelled at his brother and told him to stop I have never yelled at his brother before I finally reached the my breaking point with someone messing with me Well my boyfriend got mad at me because I yelled at his brother

M boyfriend was yelling at me for yelling at his brother His brother was taken back from me yelling at him but he understood and saidthat was fine and was trying to calm my boyfriend down Well instead of me making matters worse by yelling back at him i ended up leaving I went and stayed at his brothers house (oddly enough his brother came with me to his house) Well through the course of the night my boyfriend called and hung up I called back and he thought he hit silent but actually picked up the phone I was on the phone for about 2 hours and I heard everything that was going on Turns out he was picked up by his ex girlfriends best friend and was taken over to his ex's house

I called and spoke to the ex she said yes he came over nothing happened they hadnt seen each other in a while (this is the same ex that has caused many problems throughout our relationship) I feel very betrayed about this he denies seeing her The next day I spoke to him on the phone and was very calm about him seeing his ex I told him he had a choice to make it's me and this baby or its just you He said I want you come pick me up ( he went to his mothers) I said no you got yourself there you get yourself back Well he called me after I lost my temper with him lieing to me and he said he was going to stay at his mothers house he's going to pick up is things and get the groceries he bought the day before

He eventually came over and did just that took his things and all the groceries I dont know what to do I believe he is being very selfish and very immature especially taking all of the food in the house I mean everything he bought from cheese to hot chocolate

Part of me wants him to come back but the other is saying no absolutely not I dont want to be a single parent to another child but i feel like I am going to have to be Should I really just take this as he is overwhelmed with expecting another child and doesnt know what to do or that he has betrayed and stepped out on me

Expert Post Viewd: 1 Posted: 1/25/09 9:53 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask Mr Dad

My son is 2yrs old and one month and he is having trouble sleeping through the night I have read countless books (easy 2 do as he wont sleep ) and tried a variety of methods We stick to the same routine every night Last thing before bed we have wind down time and he has a bottle of warm milk Shortly after we put him to sleep in his cot So initially there is no problem he doesnt protest and actually goes down quite calmly Roughly 2 hours or more after he has gone down he will wake up and start crying and wont stop until someone retrieves him We check on him and there is nothing wrong So we decided we would try a different method let him cry it out So that sounds pretty logical you would think that he would cry for less time or realise nobody is coming and give it up Not my son he will keep continuously crying eventually he falls asleep but then a few hours later he starts again Sometimes we give in and bring him to our bed once he is in the comfort of our bed he falls asleep immediately and sleeps through How do we get him to sleep through on his own Sleep deprivation is killing us

During the day he gets plenty of activity and has even stopped having his afternoon nap We have also tried several different routines What we find is that the majority of textbooks etc all focus on the putting down thats the only bit we have got sussed its the sleeping through that is causing us problems

Any help and advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Raj

Expert Post Viewd: 567 Posted: 9/27/07 6:38 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Ask Mr Dad

My husband and I have very different ways to discipline our 1 1/2yr old He believes that I am way too easy with him but then again I stay home with him I believe that my husband is way too hard on him How can I help him to ease up and realize our son is still a baby without seeming like a know it all I feel now my son knows mommy will come to the rescue if daddy gets mad and I would rather our parenting be as in sync as possible or we will regret it later

Expert Post Viewd: 796 Posted: 5/14/07 11:38 pm Posted by: Replies: 0

Husband's Financial Habits Need Improvement

Ask Mr Dad

:hug:As a wife it my job to encourage my husband to do his best in everything he does What can I say to him to help him understand that his financial habits affect our present and future When we first got married I didn't think it was a big deal because I felt that as long as I saved and budgeted we were alright But since half our savings was used when we relocated across the country a year ago and our combined salaries are lower than one of our salaries prior to our move things are getting tight We're living paycheck to paycheck and can't even afford to put money aside for savings We want to buy a house now This is where I realized that I need to push him to improve his credit It's not the credit score alone that I'm concerned about it's the things that have made the score low Things like not paying bills at all Ignoring the Dept of Education when they call He bought a time share (against my approval) while he wasn't working and now he's way behind in payments but won't call them to work something out I get all those messages not him He'd rather pretend they're not calling I write his messages and place them in a place he can see them but I can't make his choices for him I don't want to nag even though I feel the urge to I don't want to beat him over the head even though I feel the urge to I have told him that he should at least call these agencies and see if something can be worked out and that he needs to stop relying soley on my good credit score when we concsider making major financial purchases when he can work on pullin his up What can I do or say to a stubborn husband who was raised in a poor family and led to believe that because you worked hard to earn your money you it's okay to spend it frivolously And that it's okay to borrow money from someone sign a contract saying you'll pay them back then take the money and run
Help

Expert Post Viewd: 1348 Posted: 5/1/07 3:31 pm Posted by: Replies: 1

Question about Valentines Day

Ask Mr Dad

Hi Armin

I'm a fairly new mom and find myself extremely busy with my first child Because of my new role as wife and mother I feel that I've in a way lost touch with my husband needless to say my best friend I just read your great <a href http://www mrdad com/qa/justformom/reconnect w hubby htm target blank style color: #0000ff >tips
on how to reconnect with my husband thank you

To get the point at hand my husband in the past has always gone out of his way to go all out sparing no expense for Valentines day I realize that I'm extremely lucky in this manor however with the new baby this year I don't feel the expenditure is appropriate as I'd now prefer to put moneys away for our child's education Would you have any suggestions of how I could communicate this to him and suggest alternate scaled down ways to celebrate the holiday with hurting his feelings

Expert Post Viewd: 1564 Posted: 2/8/07 1:35 pm Posted by: Replies: 1
