I had to run to the store tonight because I was running low on baby formula. (Breastfeeding didn't work out, we'll save that for another post.) Since I was there and had my WIC coupons with me, I decided to get some infant juice too. Now, my 9 month old refuses to drink anything other than Similac Advance, so the juice is for us...we love it! LOL.
As I was being checked out at the register, the lady who was bagging my groceries said "this is the part of having babies that I do not miss." She was referring to the formula and the little juices. I said "well, my baby hates juice, so we drink it, hahaha."
Then I could not believe my ears. They actually ache from what she said next. This is what she said:
"Have you tried putting sugar in it?"
Um, what? Excuse me? Did I hear her correctly? Do people actually do this? There is already plenty of sugar in juice from the fruit!! Infants will get plenty of sugar later in life, I think for the 1st 12 months we can feed them healthy foods, not ADD sugar!! This is why American's are becoming more and more obese. This is why there are toddlers running around with their teeth rotting out.
Sugar as it is, is very unhealthy for you, as and adult, child, infant whatever. The granulated white sugar that is found in most homes across America turns right into fat. Your body does not understand how to process this sugar. When they bleach it, and process it, they actually pound out all the good stuff. Your body is actually made to have pure cane suger, unprosessed, and raw. Don't let the companies fool you. Read your labels. Cane sugar in it's raw state is brown, and course. Your body is able to process this sugar slowly thoughout the day, and does not turn into fat.
Please, do not put sugar in your baby's juice. You are doing him/her a HUGE injustice if you do. |

Do you all remember that scene from the movie "A Christmas Story," when Ralphy's poor little brother Randy couldn't put his arms down? His mother had him all bundled up ready to trek to school through the snow.
I recently recieved this coat in the mail from a friend, for my baby. It's a darling coat, and it's pink (everything's great in pink!). It has cute little kitten heads for the pockets and also on the buttons!! How could you go wrong?

But, while I am soo loving this coat..my little Beast has other opinions about it. Of course, she'll need a winter coat soon...so, I'll just be exstending the carseat straps so she can have the extra chest room, and making sure big sis sits at the far end, so she has plenty of arm room (since she can't put them down!).
Have you ever made your children suffer for extra cuteness? Or am I the only mean mommy? Like my mamma alwaya told me "pain comes with beauty." LOL! |
