mini pill use 2 questions

Ask a Midwife

Hi I just weaned my 10 month old from breastfeeding I have been on the mini pill since my 6 week postpartum appointment I have not had a period yet but do think I have been ovulating the last few months since she started eating solids too This month I forgot to reorder my mini pill through the mail and so there was a 5 day lapse in my taking it We did have sex twice in that time with no backup contraception After that 5 day lapse I took 2 pills and then decided to stop the mini pill altogether since the possibility of another pregnancy was exciting to me I was curious if you thought my chance of getting pregnant was high since I still haven't gotten my period yet and have no idea if or when ovulation is occurring Also was curious how long you think it might take for my period to resume I have been off the mini pill for about 2 weeks now Wasn't sure when I should take a pregnancy test

Expert Post Viewd: 350 Posted: 7/3/09 7:04 pm Posted by: Replies: 1

Ask a Midwife

Hi Kathy

I am pregnant with 14 weeks From the 5th week onwards I have pink spotting from time to time And for most of the time after pink or brown spotting I notice some tissues / bloods vessels in the toilet after I pee

One month ago my doctor checked inside and saying that on that specific day the pink spotting was from the cyst(the size is like a dried grape) in the vaginal no bleeding around the cervix but he did not know whether all the spotting over the months came from the cyst or not He told me that if I were not pregnant he could just cut the cyst but now he would wait until I deliver

My questions are: what is the cause of the cyst what would be the tissue/blood vessels like substances in the toilet(my doctor said he did not know what they were) Does this mean that I have a higher chance of miscarriage Any concern or any questions that you think I should ask the doctor

Do you think that I have infectin in the vaginal or URI what should I do or am I just worrying too much I had FSH testing 12 5 before I pregnant is this related to the spotting

This is my 2nd pregnancy and no spotting at all in my first I am now 40 years old

Thanks

Expert Post Viewd: 478 Posted: 6/23/09 1:12 am Posted by: Replies: 1

Ask a Midwife

Hi Cathy

In addition to the questions I asked yestersday I would like to ask one more question Since my HCG came back at 177 so I assumed that I am 4 weeks pregnant now

I heard that the in the past years mercury was used in tooth filling materilas (the silver filling) 10 years ago I had my 2 premolars filled with "Silver" like materils as the surfaces had decayed it was done in Hong Kong

When reading thr some of the articles regarding pregnancy they said it is very dangerous to the fetus because each time we brush we teeth we brush the mercury and the evapour will fill up our mouth and If accidentally swallow the saliva or the water then it would cause permanent damage to the fetus Even when we talk we should not stand close to the face of the babies

Is that truth what can I do now Can I go to dentist and have it removed or it may cause more problems

Thanks

Expert Post Viewd: 457 Posted: 4/15/09 12:30 am Posted by: Replies: 1

Ask a Midwife

After trying for 8 months for a second child and then being 3 weeks delayed for my cycle I went to my OB since all my OTC pregnancy tests were coming back negative I had pregnancy symptoms and was convinced I was pregnany but something in my gut was telling me I wansn't I had an external and internal ultrasound and a full blood work up and scheduled a F/U I was in a significant car wreck the day after my first US and they Dr at the ER confirmed in deed I was not pregnant At the F/U the OB said my WBC ct is low and I had a cyst on my ovary that looks to have bleed into itself and also a 2mm cyst in my Uterus He said this is highly unlikely to happen and that hopefully it is just a fluid sac and will disolve I go back for a second internal US in 1 week (6 wks since 1st US) and if it is still there he wan'ts to do a DNC to remove it all saying that he is concerned with Uterian cancer He mentioned this would be extremely rare since I am only 28 120lbs and healthy otherwise I am constatly having "pre menstral" camping and a lot of discharge have been fatigued and finally did get a menstral cycle however it was not "normal" for me (very long and light with painful cramps) He also mentioned this is why I haven't been able to get pregnant Have you ever seen a case like this Would a DNC remove the cyst (or cancer if thats what it is) and that is a cure I can't find anything online on creditable medical websites for information similar to my case I'm trying to stay off the internet however want to know a little more of this situation since having to wait 4 weeks for my next f/u with the OB

Thank you

Expert Post Viewd: 267 Posted: 4/11/09 1:10 am Posted by: Replies: 1
