INSULIN more less Question I am seeing a fertility specialist and last week had a lot of blood work done I was fasting for this My insulin came back as 34 which he said was high I am overweight and have irregular cycles so he said that this is what he expected to see for the results When I go back to the Dr he said he will be putting me on Metformin along with me being compliant with weight reduction He said this will help reduce my chances of another Miscarriage I will also be having an ultrasound of my overies I'm also on Yaz birth control for 3 months while I lose weight My question is with insulin of 34   This number seems low but i am guessing that the number is coming from a different part of the blood then an accu check how you usually check that blood glucose Can you tell me anything about this insulin level of 34   is their any kind of chart to coralate these numbers what it would be with a finger stick type of check Thank you

Baby aspirin and progesterone more less Question HI How are you So I have a couple of questions again My doctor has been running tests on why I have m/ced twice One at 8 weeks and another at 16 weeks He got the chromosome tests back for my 2nd m/c at 8 weeks and everything was fine with the baby but now he still needs to know why I miscarried then So far my bloodwork is coming back good He is gonna test me for blood clotting and my progesterone He said he will put me on baby aspirin and progesterone as prevantative measures when I'm pregnant again With my 2nd pregnancy I was diagnosed with a threatened m/c because I was heaving brown spotting and my sac was abnormal so with all that how could everything be ok with the baby I thought that b/c the shape of the sac not being round meant that something inside of the sac wasn't correct So my question is Do you think the aspirin and progesterone are a good idea and can help I also want him to check me reguarly for UTI's since with both pregnancies  I had them and I am wondering if those contributed to the m/c Do you think I should test for Lupus and thyroid Thank you so much

baby is small more less Question I went to the doctor at 33 and I was told she only weighed 4 lbs 5 oz and was small so they are sending me to the perinatal center for weekly tests   My question is I am a small person (normally 100 lbs and only 5 ft) what would be the right size of my child   I have gained about 35 lbs and they say the fluid and such is good   Oh yeah my 7 year old was only 6 lbs 5 oz at full term   Should I really be concerned or are they just being cautious   Thanks

pain more less Question I have been having pain between my legs for over a month now   I went to my doctor he said he thinks it is the bones seperating   I also went to the emergency room because I could not walk and I could not sit   I can only lay down and lay really still in order for it to quit hurting   But if I lay too long then I cannot get out of bed by myself because it hurts so bad   I can't lift my legs to put my pants on   I can't get dressed by myself   And it just seems like nobody will listen to me   They keep telling me this is normal   I don't know of anyone that has had this much pain   Everybody else I have talked to said that this is not normal   But the doctors will not listen to me   They just keep telling me that it is normal   What can I do   Soaking in a bath does not help   It just makes it worse because I can't get out of the bath tub   Ice does not help   I can also feel the baby kicking down there   Could it be that the baby is just really low   If it is what can I do to relieve the pain   Tylenol does nothing for me   I am 28 weeks right now   Thank you

ovulation and period more less Question Is it correct to say that even if a woman has a 28 or 30day  cycle that whenever her cycle does start she can count 14 before that date and that is when she actually ovulated or am I misunderstanding the calculation   I  am ttc  LMP was Aug 17 2007 We had intercourse on  aug22 26 28 30 and again on sept 1 (this is the day I am positive I ovulated the cm was unbelievable so we took advantage:) then we made love on sept 2( be he did not ejaculate) and again on sept 3 then again on the 5 Now I have a 31 32 day cycle and would be due to miss my period on 09172007 If I indeed ovualted on the 1st of Sept then 14 days later would be the 15 would I be due to  not start then (my cycle) I hope this makes sense

suggestion more less Question Hi Cathy First of all I would like to say that I am very glad forums like this exist; and i applaud and thank you for the energy you give everyday for something that you may or may not be paid for I understand that the breadth of women who ask questions here is very wide and your answers need to accomodate many different types and levels of education and socio economic background However I do have one suggestion which I also would say to most medcial professionals in this field We as pregnant or infertile or TTC women are seeking the truth about our situations Even if the truth is something we may or may not want to hear You (medical professionals) are the experts and we want nay need your medical opinions of our situations outside of the dry medical information The value of your educated opinion has the power to calm fears but also bring to realization the potential negative outcomes which in turn aid in the healing processes should our worst fears happen We are not the ones who have spent years studying anatomy chemistry and all entailed in becoming a medical professional This is why we come to you You have gut insticts backed by years of studying My experience with the professionals in this field during my last pregnancy made me fully realize that many many hedge what they say in an effort to not frighten women and lessen liability I think many times this is a great disservice to the very women they are trying to help During my last pregnancy I had a Threatened Miscarriage around 6w3d The sight of blood scared the hell out of me and I first turned to my Ob and then to any information I could find on the internet This is how I came across your site My symptoms included bleeding a closed cervix an unusual shapped gestation sac and a HB of 119 Desperately trying to find information about what exactly a HB of 119 meant in regards to my chances I repeatedly was given the answer This is within normal range including from this website However after I miscarried at 9w2d and had my D&C my OB said that she wasn't surprised I miscarried since a HB at that gestational age was fairly low Which I wished I had heard from somebody anybody at the time of the threatened miscarriage All I wanted was the truth and I got hedged answers It may have prepared me and alleviated the shock I had at my 2nd u/s believing that 119 was truly normal when it really was at the low end Next time I will be more blunt with my OB's and not accept non opinion sterile information Again do not mistake this for not appreciating all you do for us I am so thankful we have a place to go to ask questions when our OB (understandably) do not have time for our 1 000s of questions Thanks for listening

re: overbearing "friends" more less Question I am currently pregnant and unwed   My boyfriend and I are trying to work out issues   I got pregnant the first time we were together and was not sure what I should do given my current situation as I do not have the best job   Well my best friend was hooping that I would give the baby to her but I decided that I would raise her on my own   Now my friend is overbearing and thinks that this is still 'her" baby   I need to move but can't as I am now 6 months pregnant and the closer I get to delivery the worse she gets   I want either the baby's father or my sister in the operating room ( c section to occur) and if not them then no one as they are the only people I want to hold her before me   The situation is complicated but bottom line is I am scared that she will try something to get my baby   Maybe I am overreacting but that is how I feel and it is not like I can say anything to her as she does not get it   Recently i was looking at warm overclothes in case we go to the mountains or see my sister she makes comment "oh no the only place you are taking my baby is to your house or mine "  I am renting from her and can't afford to move   HELP
