what is the cause of pain and pressure? more less Question Hi Cathy I am almost 28 weeks I am carrying a boy and from the very beginning my belly is pointed out and carry very very LOW   People always think that this month is my due month Since from week 26 I started to have lower abdomen pain and feel the pressure around the genital area I talked to my doctor last Sat 9/15 during regular visit he said through the ultrasound the baby was doing good and was over 2 pounds for the addomen pain and pressure he just warned me to rest more to avoid pre term labour and that is These few days besides the pain and the pressure the left larger lips of the valva is also painful too especially when I am walking the pain reduced when sitting or sleeping can you tell me the possible cause of all these I am thinking it might be due to the uterus is pointing out (not pointing upward) to press the bladder and that creates the pressure and pain around the abdomen and genital area Any opinions Should I concern or should talk to my doctor again I gained 8 pounds only in total is that normal Thanks

Need clarification - Which is the better way? more less Question Hi it  has been a little while since I have posted but here is my recent question   My husband and I are trying to get pregnant   As a re cap I have one son from a healthy pregnancy and delivery and  then I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in Jan 07   Both times we used the counting method (my cycles are usually 28/29 days long so we started having sex on day 10 and had sex every other day through day 20)   My sister recently gave me a bunch of ovulation test strips that she ordered on line and I used one today Today is day 16 for me and the ovulation test strip came back as postive The directions stated I should have intercourse no sooner than 24 hours from that time and no later than 48 hours and that the closest to 36 hours is preferrable That would mean my husband and I would not have intercourse tonight as we had planned based on our usual method of TTC   So I am confused which method is best   Do these test strips really work How does the test know what time of day I took the test how can it tell me to the hour when I should have intercourse Am I best off using my usual method since it worked twice for me before   Any input/information you have to share would be appreciated Thank you Rachel

39 1/2 nweeks and not dialating more less Question I am 39 1/2 weeks and there are no signs of dialating yet I had a procedure done 10 years ago where I had to have my cervix "frozen" to remove some pre cancerous cells My doctor told me that this is probably why I have not progressed yet I was wondering if there is anything safe and affectinve that I can do or take to help things along I REALLY want to have a natural childbirth without any drugs   I am not looking forward to even having to have some help with induction because I have read that it may cause my labor pains to be that much harder to deal with without some other medical intevention I beleive in the use of herbal remedies but I am just not sure what may work and especially what is safe  I would appreciate any advice you may have

Cramps (6 weeks pregnant) more less Question Hi I'm approximately six weeks pregnant and last night I was woken up with a jolted cramp in my lower ab and could also be felt in my lower back (which lasted around two mintues than nothing)   I felt totally fine after that   I also ran to the bathroom to see if there's blood since I had a miscarriage back in March at around 6 weeks and nothing just lots of creamy vaginal discharge (which I still have this morning) I guess my concerns is whether this is normal   I'm just so scared of another miscarriage  I read on the Web that cramps indicate that your uterus is stretching for the growing baby is that true Thank you for your time

vaginal bleeding more less Question I had a laparoscopy done last Thursday on 9/13 and I was having some spotting after the procedure   The spotting seemed to have subsided by the next day   But then on Saturday night it started again and became heavier   The vaginal beeding is not really heavy but just a constant light flow that does not seem to subside   I was wondering maybe the procedure has triggered my period to come earlier   I am supposed to have my period start later this week on the 24th   I called the doctor's office on Monday and the secretary assured me that the bleeding is normal   But now it's been a week already and I am still bleeding   Should I be concerned or is this really normal

Pregnant? more less Question     Below is my original question and your response My impatience is getting the best of me and I have another question I have been very tired lately more than normal It's similiar to the way I was the last time I was pregnant (miscarriage D&C 4/13) You said it would be unlikely that we conceived based on the days of intercourse and ovulation but with how I've been feeling and my wishful thinking and again impatience I took an EPT pregnancy test Mind you my period is due in 3/4 days The result was a faint pink line (along with the control line)   Does this my it is more on the Likely side now I will definately retest after the 4th day but again my impatience :) Thank you for your kindness   Trying to figure out timing My husband and I have been trying to track and time out my ovulation schedule for several months It was my understanding that we should have intercourse a few days before expected ovulation First is this true Second if so if my husband and I had intercourse on the 2nd & 3rd of September & I ovulated on the 7th could there be a slim chance for pregnancy Or should we have had intercourse closer to the 7th  Would I still have the discharge/ovulation seeing as though it was so close Cathy Collins Fulea 9/9/200739 pm  Re: Trying to figure out timing In a normal cycle you will ovulate 14 days before your period   If there is a fluctuation in your cycles it is the time BEFORE ovulation that changes   If you have a 28 day cycle you will ovulate on day 14   If you have a 30 day cycle you will ovulate on day 16   Sperm are thought to retain fertilizing capability for up to 48 hours once they have entered the female genital tract but it's possible their lifespan is even longer The egg on the other hand has a life span of only about twenty four hours from the time it bursts from the ovary So fertilization can occur anytime live sperm meet up with a live egg which can happen even if the sperm are deposited up to several days in advance of ovulation   The usual rule of thumb is to assume you are fertile 2 3 days before the expected ovulation day and one day after   If you have irregular cycles you need to calculate the ovulation date of your shortest previous cycle and your longest previous cycle and then start having intercourse 2 3 days before that     Optimal semen specimens occur with ejaculation every two or three days so do not have intercourse more often then every 2 days       If ovulation occurred on the 7th and you had intercourse on the 2 3 the chances are extremely low that you conceived unless you ovulated early
