3rd missed m/c this year :( Question so far this year i have had a missed m/c in january at 11 weeks (baby measured 8 wks) july at 11wks1day (baby was gone long enough that they weren't sure when we lost it exactly they estimated between 6 & 7 wks we last saw the heartbeat at 6wks 1day) and just last week at 10wks 2days (baby measured 8wks 5 days and we had last seen the heartbeat at 8wks 1day) after the first loss they sent us home to try again basically after the 2nd loss they ran the whole recurrent loss panel the only finding was a positive ANA result they did further testing for lupus which was all negative nothing was found with testing on the babies either time this last time we opted not to have testing done on the baby both dh and i have had our chromosomes checked and everything was fine this last pregnancy they had me on progesterone suppositories twice a day plus a baby aspirin a day the dr wanted to do lovenox injections but the perinatologist said that he preferred to just do the aspirin the dr is now referring us to a reproductive specialist (i think a different perinatologist) she also said that we will definitely do lovenox next time what rae the odds that it will do a bit of good what are our chances for having yet another m/c this last time everything looked good hcg at 14dpo was 412 hcg at 16dpo was 1345 progesterone was 49 since all the losses tend to be around the same time is it probable that the clotting issue is causing them is there anything else we can try so that we have a good outcome with the next pregnancy we do have a daughter who will be turning 2 next weekend so we know i am capable of carrying to term there were absolutely no issues with that pregnancy or delivery also the hsg was clear Answer |

Placenta Previa Question Hi Cathy I am 21 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) and had a routine ultrasound today The doctor says my placenta is "moderately" covering my cervix; hence calling it Placenta Previa The doctor said it should correct itself as my pregnancy continues As long as I do not have bleeding (I'm not) I should not worry My next ultrasound (elective) is not for another 9 weeks How closely should my physician be monitoring this Is waiting 9 weeks too long Will I more than likely have to have a c section Thank you for your response Answer |

Biopsy of Uterus Question DH and I have been ttc for 3 months and no luck In that 3 months I have been having spotting on CD16 of a 27/28 day cycle It is always on that cycle day The first month it was very little brown spotting the second month is was a lot of bright red blood like a period and then last month is was it was a tiny bit of brown The month of the bright red blood I called my obgyn Also for the past 5 or 6 months I have been having a little brown spotting exactly two days before af Before ttc I never had spotting in my life I have been off bc for over a year When I called my doc she did blood work to check my thyroid prolactin levels immunity for measles mumps & rhuebella I also had a pap smear done and a culture and even an internal and external ultrasound Everything came back normal and healthy I called her back and told her that I had the spotting again and she now wants me to have a biopsy of my uterus I am so scared because I don't want anyone messing with my uterus while ttc My doc knows that I'm trying to have a baby and she scheduled it on a day that she said wouldn't interfere with ttc Do you think that I should have the biopsy done or do you think there is some other tests that she can do first Also do you have any suggestions to what this spotting is from Thank you so much Answer |

Concerned Question I am 26 weeks and for the past couple weeks I've felt a need to urinate a lot more and I've had some pressure in my pelvis that comes and goes and isn't severe I saw my doctor today who checked my cervix and said it felt tight and I wasn't dialating at all but my uterus was starting to funnel down a little He said that sometimes the weight of the baby can do that and that's why I've felt the extra pressure I'm carrying very low and I've not gained a lot of weight ( I was 135 before pregnancy and I'm 150 now) He just told me that I need to inform him of any changes or problems do you think this is something to be majorly worried about Answer |

Labour Question Hi Cathy I am now at 35 weeks During the last doctor visit on 11/3 Sat the baby was still in horizontal position with his head on the left and feet on the right side Since yestersday I noticed that his kickings are mainly around or above the belly button Does it mean that he has on "head down" position already and at the same time I feel that there is pressure around the urinary vaginal and even the anus area I always feel that something is going to come out Is this normal during my stage I don't have any bleeding just occasionally have some mild "tightening" of the whole belly do you think that I will go to labour very soon And I have gestational diabetes is it OK to drink cransberry juice And since last visit the doctor requests me to do something like putting a device on my belly to detetct the heart beat of my baby it lasts for 20 mins and his heart beat was around 13X per min but sometimes went down to 12X and went up to 160 when he did move is that OK and I will repeat it on every visit Does it mean that he suspects something is wrong with my baby Thanks Answer |

High blood pressure in pregnancy Question Hi I am 9 weeks pregnant I don't know if you remember but I miscarried (natural) in January of this year I had a D & C in June to remove a polyp in my uterus Along the way I was dealing with some newly diagnosed blood pressure issues I followed up with my PCP who determined I do not have hypertension but that I may in the future and that he thought my pressure goes up when I know it will be tested at a doctor's appt Periodically I go to Target Meijers etc and have it tested mostly using the automatic machines they have in the pharmacy and on occassion by a technician My results really vary even from minute to minute They go anywhere from the low end of normal to high So at my 8 week appt it was high 140/90 My midwife said it might be nerves but that we will have to watch it I am concerned and frusturated I don't know what to think if I really have high blood pressure or is this just coincidence I certainly don't want to do anything to jeapordize my baby/pregnancy Also if I do have high blood pressure can I still work with the midwife What risks are there for my baby/myself during pregnancy Thanks for your info /advice Rizzo Answer |

Vision during pregnancy Question Hi I am 9 weeks pregnant I am overdue for an eye exam I need new glasses and I would like some contacts I remember in my first pregnancy I could not wear my contacts they irritated my eyes My question is should I get my eye exam and purchase new glasses contacts Or is it a bad idea because a woman's vision changes during pregnancy and then maybe the prescription won't be accurate after I have my baby Any clarification you can offer will be helpful Thank you Rizzo Answer |
