Hi. I am breast-feeding my daughter. She is 8 mos. old and it is going wonderfully. (I am happy to say). I am pretty conservative with regards to what I eat/drink and take medicine-wise. I don't drink alcohol at all and really limit my caffeine. I currently have a TERRIBLE chest cold and cough. I went to the doctor and he said to take Chloresptic losenges. I actually bought Halls Breezes without menthol but they do have pectin. Can I use these while breast-feeding? Also, is there a cough medicine I can take either prescription or over the counter? My doctor didn't know of any but if there is one I would like to know, because I can't sleep due to this persistent, dry cough. He also prescribed me an antibiotic , the Z pack. Is this safe to use? He said only to fill it if I really feel I need it. Also, I have been wondering about Splenda (the artificial sweetner) use while breast-feeding? Thanks! Rachel |

It's wonderful to hear that things are going well and that you are not drinking alcohol and that you limit your caffine. I don't have those meds in front of me, but they would say on the lable if it was not recommended. I am cautious about artificial sweeteners.
