I need some help! more less Question Hi My daughter is now 3 months old She is a breast fed baby   When she was one week old she refused to feed at the breast for a whole week but we worked through it and got back on track (I sometimes gave her pumped breast ilk in a bottle then) She presently gets one bottle of pumped breast milk a day per the doctor's reccommendations that we put her vitamin drops in and to get her used to the nipple for the days I am at work I just went back to work last week two full days On those two days she gets breast milk in a bottle usually 3 during the time I am gone   All has been going well until a couple days ago Now she sometimes CRIES when I put her to my breast when she indicates she is hungry I keep trying I take a break to calm her down but she continues to be very upset Sometimes it works and once in a while we end up giving her a bottle of breast milk which she gobbles (The days I am home  in addition to feeding her I pump three times a day to build a supply as well I have done so since she was born and it seems I am making less also a concern I also pump at work on the days I am gone)   She doesn't seem to have that problem of getting upset at the breast during the night when she is sleepy only during the day I REALLY want this to work My husband says not everyone can breast feed While I agree with this for very special circumstances I think that too many people give up too easily (due to lack of support or information etc) and I don't want that Breast feeding did not work for my first born he was in the NICU for a while after birth and had been given bottles of formula and it was hard to get on track after that I tried breast feeding him but he would get so gassy and miserable at the breast that I ended up giving him my pumped milk for about 8 months until my supply ran out   I would really like to make this work this time   Any ideas suggestions input would be greatly appreciated I am trying not to get discouraged and to stay calm but sometimes I feel like I am failing or at least doing something wrong I really want to have an experience where I see some moms have where it just looks so easy for both mom and baby Can you help me Thanks so much   Rachel

Re-using a breastpump more less Question Is is safe to use someone else's breastpump My sister has a wonderful breastpump that she hardly used and I would love to be able to make more use of it if it is sanitary My doctor said that she thought that just replacing the tubes and shields would be all I'd have to do to make it sterile However my sister feels that the entire thing needs to be sterilized How do you feel about this and is it safe to use her old breastpump Is there a way to fully sterilize it for my baby

Breast Feeding/Inverted Nipple Surgery more less Question Hello there About 8 years ago I had Inverted Nipple surgery so that I felt like a girl should   I am due October 2008 and want to breastfeed   I was unable to do so with my other two kids because of the severity of the invert   I have read that I will most likely not be able to because I was a level 2 inversion   Do you have any further education on this matter   I guess that the surgery most likely severed my tubes from the ducts so that the milk has nothing to travel through   Will my breast still produce milk (crazy question I know) Will I most likely become engorged   If my chances are next to nil on the breastfeeding is there anything they can give me to suppress the milk production I was not aware at the time that the surgery could damage the breasts enough that you could not breastfeed   Really was not planning on more children at that time so it was not a concern Thank you for your time Chrystal Smith

Reynaud's and Combination Feeding more less Question Hi    I am expecting my 3rd baby in Oct and I had a really horrible time breastfeeding my first 2 babies   I saw 5 6 consultants during that time but it wasn't until I recently decribed my experiences to a LC that she suggested I may have Reynaud's Syndrome   She said Procardia could be prescribed but would take 2 weeks to start working      I had been planning to just go straight to formula this time but with this new info I am thinking about combination feeding breast and formula   I would love to avoid pumping as much as possible (double duty) but I am concerned about 1) if I can establish a decent milk supply if I start off doing only every other feeding and 2) if the baby will become confused by doing a bottle every other feeding    Please let me know your suggestions and advice   Thank you so much Becky

going back to work more less Question ok I live in Indiana   Before I had my baby I worked for a daycare center   I had cleared it iwth my boss to return to work 6 weeks after my daughter was born and I was being allowed to bring her with me since I was breast feeding and only working 3 hours a day (part time) Well I called her last week to arrange the day to return and she informed me that there was a problem   Her supervisor a non married man with no children is in charge of making decisions about breast feeding mothers   I'm not likeing this at all   This was why I was going back to work was because I could take her with me   he is concerned about me possibly having to nurse her while taking care of the kids   I informed her that I have somone in there with me at all times I could either excuse myself for the 15 minutes to nurse her or nurse her discreatly in the room   I also proposed moving me from the 2year old room to the infant room so that she would be around kids her own age   Thing is he is ok if I bottle feed but I don;t htink he understands that by law if I bottle feed her he has to supply a room for me to express my breastmilk for her and that takes longer then if I just nurse her   ANy help would be appreciated   Thanks Jan
