Labor Pains more less Question Dear Dr Camann I had very bad labor pains during my first pregnancy I had them for about 72 hours They were about 7 minutes apart and I was not dilated at the beginning of these labor pains I waited the whole weekend until Monday when I couldn't take it any longer I was also a week past due   During the last 48 hours I could not lay down or sit down Finally my doctor allowed me to come into the hospital and I was 1 centimeter dilated First he sedated me so that I could get some sleep When I awoke   he then broke my water and induced me   I am really nervous about a second pregnancy Is there anything that could be done for the pain while in labor Are there any medications/pain relievers that are safe to take Thanks Robin             I
