I made a terrible mistake

I cut my hair bald and wore wigs for about 2 yrs then I switch to braids for a few month.  I bought a regular relaxer and applied it to my virgin hair and after I finish washing my hair I noticed clumps of it in the sink, as I started to comb it, more hair came out, seems like it came out in spots, although I don't have any bald spots, my hair is very very short in the back, the virgin hair was past my neck.  I think I made a mistake  by relaxing my hair after braiding, I really wished I hade used Just for me, a kids relaxer for the first time or would my hair still have fallen out?

My choices are to cut it bald again, wear wig or use what I have and do quick weave.  What do you suggest?

Hugs

Re: I made a terrible mistake

Sorry about your hair challenge, but all is not lost.  What happens when you wear braids, is that you don't see the hair shedding as it does on a regular daily basis.  Hair typically sheds over a 100 strands a day.  But because you are not combing it, there is no chance for it fall out.  If you keep your hair braided for 30 day, just imagine that you have thousands of strands that have actually shed from the scalp just sitting there.  Once you take the braids down and comb it then you see all of the hair falling.  If you then, apply a relaxer, it appears that the relaxer has caused the shedding.  And that is what may have happened in your case.  So I would have recommended that you delayed relaxing your hair for a couple of weeks and just condition it.  But, what do we do now?  You should trim the hair or cut it into a great style that fits your face.  If it's straight, then you have a lot of options for styling.  I would have probably recommended the Botanical Texturizer, that gently softens the hair, not straighten it. Read More signin

Re: I made a terrible mistake

Thanks for the information, not sure I want to wear my hair because it is so thin and I am not seeing a beautician, so I may just buy me a wig.  I did do the quick weave, but that was b.... Read More signin
