Dear Ms.Baker
I have a daughter of 18 years of age.She had started losing her hair from the front of her head .Though her hair is long and lustrous,the hairs from the frontside are slowly vanishing.She is very depressed about this.Otherwise she is a normal teenager and extremely pretty.Please help. |

I am sorry to hear about this. I would need to know a couple of things before really giving you a specific response:
* How far back around the hairline is the hair shedding?The hair around the hairline is fragile and then. It's the most susceptible to breakage.
* Does she wear a relaxer?, if so, does she go to the salon or do her hair at home?
Sometimes people over-process the hair around the hairline, by reapplying the relaxers to frequently and over-lapping the cream on previously relaxed hair. If this is your situation, only retouch every 8 - 10 weeks. KEEP it off of the previously straightened hair.
* Is the hair falling in patches and in long strands, or short pieces.
Patchy hair shedding could be an indication or Alopecia Areata. Alopecia occurs when the hair follicles are attacked by the immune system and is often classified as an "Autoimmune Disorder". Some times it's known to arise during pre or post-puberty.... or any age.
