Slow all over

I read your response on the localized slow hair growth.  My daughter is 8 1/2 and her hair has just now reached shoulder length - never been cut.  It is dry and has some body but I would not consider it curly.  It is also very thin.  I'm starting to become a little concerned.  Other than that, she is normal and healthy and seems to have no other growth related problems, we just need some hair.

Re: Slow all over

I’m answering your question in several parts.

Hair Growth - There's normally a surge of hair growth during younger ages, however, the greatest influence on hair growth is heredity. So try analyzing your hair growth and texture, as well as your daughter’s dad and close relatives. If you still feel that your daughters’ hair growths is at issue, then consider seeing a dermatologist. A dermatologist can look for any disorders of the scalp and perhaps run other test. Remember outside of a few FDA approved treatments, topical products do not generate hair growth.

Now, about the dryness; Are both scalp AND hair dry? if so, consider shampooing it every couple of days, versus everyday (if you don't already). Over-shampooing can also dry out the hair. Check all the other obvious good-health practices, like water intake, exercise, diet and rest. Everything okay on that front ...then move on to a moisturizing conditioner, it's a good choice for hydrating the hair and scalp. Try something like the Tresemme Deep Quench Moisturizing Treatment after shampooing, cover with a plastic.... Read More signin
