My seven week old son is exclusively breast fed but spits up a ton more less Question   My seven week old son is exclusively breast fed but spits up a ton This happens not only right after a feeding but also several hours after a feeding It is usually chunky like spoiled milk He is also very fussy all the time I've tried keeping him elevated during feedings are for an hour after but it doesn't seem to help the spit up or fussiness at all I also burp him after each breast He is gaining weight During several feeding perday he will nurse well at one breast and then burp But when I try to offer the second he screams and arches his back He will refuse the second breast and cry inconsolably for 30 min to an hour until he finally takes the second (I try offering multiple times during this) Nothing seems to sooth him The spitting up also causes a lot of gagging and choking (he is my third breastfed child) Any suggestions

My Name is Esther and my son will be 5 months next Sunday- more less Question My Name is Esther and my son will be 5 months next Sunday August 3rd I'm currently breastfeeding my son who weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and currently he's tripled his weight His pediatrician stated that he can start solid foods about a month ago but I also began giving him food for stage 1 My lactation consultant suggested that I should exclusively breast feed until 6 months but I felt he was ready for a little solid food Is all the breastfeeding that I've done all these months are going to go out the door I just wanted to ensure that my son will continue to be healthy even though I've introduced some organic baby food appropriate for his age (vegetables only)
