Wouldn't you think with all of today's technology that they could come up with something that detects breast cancer in its earliest stages? After all, experts say that when caught early, breast cancer has a 95 percent cure rate. Well there's good news! Digital Infrared Imaging (DII), also known as thermography, can catch cancer cells while they're forming. Here's how it works: Cancerous tumors are hungry for nutrients. To feed this hunger, they hold open blood vessels (the conduit for their nutrients), open dormant vessels, and even create new ones. All this activity creates heat and heat is what the DII picks up. Because DII picks up even minute variations in normal blood vessel activity, it can catch pre-cancerous tumors (which are usually too small to be felt or even caught on a mammogram), increasing your chances of a full recovery. For those of you who have had your breasts poked, prodded, and squashed during a mammogram or ultrasound, there's more good news. DII involves no radiation, compression, contact, or intravenous injection.
Studies show up to a 61 percent increase in survival rate when breast thermography and mammography are used together.
