Holiday Gift Ideas on a Budget

Make a holiday scarp book with the kids: include all of their old holiday photos, let them draw pictures, add stickers, and litter. It¹ll be something they can enjoy looking at every year.

Bake a batch of cookies or cake together. Let the kids write a message or draw a picture with the frosting as the final touch. Whoever you give it to will appreciate the time you spent baking. Also include the recipe, that way they can make it whenever they want.

Or give them all the ingredients and a great recipe to bake their own cookies, cakes, or homemade bread.

Help the kids with a collage for the grandparents, use photos, fabric, turn it into a family tree collage, whatever else has sentimental value, and frame it.

Need a gift for your boss? How about gourmet coffee from the nearest coffee house or a teacup with a box of their favorite tea, it shouldn¹t cost more than 15.

Record the kids and send the video to family and friends. Have them sing holiday songs, or say a special message. The video will be a keepsake and a thoughtful present.

Make a pine cone wreath. Cut a wire hanger in half and bend it into a circle, tying the ends together, cover the entire circle with duct tape, then glue the pine cones to the tape. Add a red or green ribbon and give the wreath to friends or family as a Christmas present.

Let the kids make centerpieces. Take a basket or if you don¹t have one take one of the kids¹ small shoeboxes and paint it. Afterwards fill the box with pinecones, leaves, ribbons, glitter, tiny toys, whatever else you have in the house and you¹ve just created a fun centerpiece that the kids will be proud of having made.

Let the kids make jewelry. Buy a bag of beads and some sewing thread and let the kids make custom bracelets, necklaces, and rings for family and friends.

Buy some yarn or fabric and make scarves, hats, sweaters, or gloves for family and friends. It¹ll keep them warm and save you money.
