pregancy week 33 and worried about early delivery

hi jill, i am 33 weeks pregnant and it seems like i am around 1-2 centimeters dilated based on a self exam, i have also been contracting for the last 3 days. the contractions arent really regular, but they dont seem to be going away. my next appt isnt until next week, should i head to the er or am i okay to wait till my doctors appt?

Dear One, 1-2 cm dilation is totally normal, natural and in no way predicts labor.   Labor requires many cervical changes:  the cervix shifting from posterier to anterior; the effacement (thinning) of the cervix; and contractions that are 60 seconds in duration. What is sounds like is pre labor, where your uterus contracts, but does not make cervical changes.  Keep yourself well hydrated!  I like to brew large batches of red raspberry tea with hon....
