Hi Jen,
I heard your inspiring story at Ladies Who Launch, Toronto, this past fall. My now 21 month year old son, inspired me to design a maternity/nursing garment that I am positive chic moms will desire. Pre-baby I was an occupational therapist, model/actress, fashion stylist and "idea" person. I have finally had patterns and first samples made and am considering using a local manufacturer for fabric purchase and production. Like countless design entrepreneurs, i am concerned that this manufacturer may copy our product (but I also have a gut feeling that this is the way to make my dream a physical reality). Strong branding and marketing aside, how can I protect my company...should I hire a lawyer and what type? I will be indebted to any advice. Thanks, Elisa |
