Afraid of copycat more less Question Hi Jen I heard your inspiring story at Ladies Who Launch Toronto this past fall My now 21 month year old son inspired me to design a maternity/nursing garment that I am positive chic moms will desire Pre baby I was an occupational therapist model/actress fashion stylist and idea person I have finally had patterns and first samples made and am considering using a local manufacturer for fabric purchase and production Like countless design entrepreneurs i am concerned that this manufacturer may copy our product (but I also have a gut feeling that this is the way to make my dream a physical reality) Strong branding and marketing aside how can I protect my company should I hire a lawyer and what type I will be indebted to any advice Thanks Elisa 0 386 1/27/08

How Could I Broaden My Reach with a Stylish Medical Accessory?? more less Question Greetings Jen I've recently (nov '07) launched my company Stick Me Designs that produces stylish glucose meter bags for people with diabetes   I decided to give my idea a try after getting GD with my second son Ace and not wanting to carry around such a boring black nylon bag for my meter supplies   So far the response has been fantastic from the message boards Facebook and W O M buzz I'm already having our next collection of 3 new  bags created   But my question is how do I really penetrate this vast market    I know I have a product that would carve a niche out in the diabetes community but not sure how to go about it because it is in a sense a 'luxury' type item for a medical need   The market potential is enormous from a business stand point and just capturing 4 would be phenomenal success   And these are they types of goals I'm striving for I'm working with a publicist right now and I'm prayerfully hoping that this will bring in some much needed press   Currently I'm self funding my start up with credit and have about 10k that I could work with   I don't want to go that far in debt without truly knowing if my products could really really take off   I've got big dreams for this one :)  Any advice as to how to put my products out there and start to gain the attention that would propel my one of a kind products to the next level   Or at least keep a steady stream of sales coming in Best Regards Rickina Velte Founder/Designer Stick Me Designs   stickmedesigns 0 384 12/1/07

Online MBA Programs more less Question Hi Jen I want to eventually start my own home based business so that I can work from home and be with my children Right now I feel that I don't have the business education and skill base that I need to do this quite yet so I'm looking into some online MBA programs such as University of Phoenix and Strayer University Basically I guess I'm asking what are you feelings on these types of programs and do you feel that taking one of these programs will be of help to me in establishing a home based business or even just in general I just wonder if learning from home and getting an MBA from one of these online programs will carry the same weight and will be as respected as an MBA earned from attending classes at a standard university Thanks ahead
